Programs managers, acquisition experts, industry, and other key stakeholders are all players on the same team, driving for better mission outcomes. Yet, the Acquisition function –the efforts of the enterprise-wide buying team, including both programs and procurement, as well as finance, budget and oversight professionals– is the most powerful and underutilized lever in the Federal Government today for finding efficiencies and driving results. Senior government executives collaborated on a maturity model for acquisition transformation which is being tested at FEMA/FIMA. This model, called the Acquisition of the Future Transformation Guide, provides promise of improving both efficiency and effectiveness of procurements to drive better mission outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore new ways to drive better mission results through acquisition as a team sport
  • Develop familiarity with the Acquisition of the Future Transformation Guide as a workforce transformation tool
  • Understand how the Acquisition of the Future Transformation Guide is being implemented at a federal agency to drive better mission performance through acquisition
  • Gain insight into practical ways to implement similar improvements at the attendee’s agency
